Eastside Culture Crawl: Crawling for Kids with melk and Opus Art Supplies
Over the last 18 years, the Eastside Culture Crawl has grown from a 45 artist event to one that brings more than 20,000 people to visit over 450 artists in their studios. We’re celebrating our eighth year in the Eastside Culture Crawl at melk art & design, and because we love our community, and the neighbours and kids that shape it, we’re hosting a one-of-a-kind family event to celebrate the annual 4-day visual arts festival.
This year, with the support of the ECC and Opus Art Supplies, we are inviting kids and families into our studio at 936 Clark Drive for a hands on free creative workshop called ‘Crawling for Kids’! Young artists can spend the weekend getting creative and have their pick of screenprinting and stenciling projects designed especially for them. Children are invited to create their own works of art, share their wish for the future in our interactive community installation, and experience their own creativity in a unique studio space with the guidance from a working artist.…
Kick off the Crawl at Thirsty Thursday
Whether you’ve lived in East Van all your life or just moved in today, everyone is welcome to join Thirsty Thursday at 936 Clark. The brainchild of Chrystale Thompson and Jeremy Van Nieuwkerk of 936 Clark, Thirsty Thursday is a free monthly social for makers, thinkers, neighbours and friends. Drop by the second Thursday of every month to enjoy an immersive networking event that promotes building real, community relationships in a sincere and relaxed environment. It’s a place where you can engage with your local community while sampling a featured local brew.
Community engagement is key to supporting creative culture – 936 Clark is an open space that allows people to meet, find inspiration amongst your peers and share their stories in an engaging atmosphere with a beer in hand.
