The Interior Design Show West — or IDSwest — is again set to take place, running at the Vancouver Convention Centre from Thursday until Sept. 30.

The show, which promises innovative displays in architecture, interiors, lighting, design and craft, will include over 300 exhibitors. Some 30,000 people are expected to attend the event, which features local and global designers from Vancouver, North America and beyond.

The opening night event takes place Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring live music, hand-crafted cocktails and a runway show by Vancouver Fashion Week.

The Bocci Bar by Inform, designed by Omer Arbel, will showcase the Bocci team’s industrial and lighting design, including their latest piece 28D, available for special purchase (only $200, regularly $545) for those who pay the bar a visit.

Check out the winning entries of the 100-Mile House, an international challenge to conceive of homes made of products gathered within 100 miles of Vancouver.

Find out what fuels the approach of Italian designer and keynote speaker Piero Lissoni on Friday, then tour the 1,200-square-foot Livingspace + Lissoni installation.

Also check out Table to Table, as architect Michael Green takes the stage at 7 p.m. and explains, among other things, what we can learn from the growing awareness and celebration of food culture as applied to urban design.

Designer Tommy Smythe and star of HGTV’s Sarah 101 (with Sarah Richardson) will woo the crowd with Big Ideas and Stylish Solutions for Small Spaces on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at noon. Also on Saturday: speakers Aly Velji (Breakfast Television), Andrew Pike (The Marilyn Denis Show), Cheryl Torrenueva (Home Heist) and Suzanne Dimma and Mark Challen from House and Home magazine.

On Sunday, Kelly Deck, star of HGTV’s Take it Outside and Amanda Forrest, West Coast Design Expert on The Marilyn Denis Show will take the stage.

Shop the One of a Kind District and explore the wares of over 60 unique artisans offering products for the home and body. Hot booths include Billy Would Designs accessories, Lucky 14 knitwear, Andronyk Jewelry, Brothers + Sons wooden wares, MELK accessories, Kilnhouse Studio ceramics and more.
